Samhain blessing

Samhain blessing

As winter knocks upon your door and fires are lit within,
Open up your mind, your heart,
And let the seasons in;
Look past at bounty, harvests won,
Respect the earth, the moon, the sun
And when the winter seems too deep,
Remember close your friends to keep.
Take your peace and take your rest,
Live for now and know you're blessed.

Membrillo

 - done at last!  All cut and sugared and drying out now for a couple of days. It will then be wrapped and boxed, then stored for winter.  Test tasting declares it rather wonderful! lol

Orange and cinnamon biscuits

4 oz butter
4 oz sugar
6 oz plain flour
zest of one large orange
1/2 tsp cinnamon, or to taste
milk to mix

Cream butter and sugar, add flour, zest and cinnamon.  Mix well, then add milk to mix to a stiffish dough for rolling out.  Roll out and stamp with a biscuit cutter, bake in a hottish oven until golden brown, cool on a wire rack. Mine are seasonally shaped pumpkins :)

Tuesday smile :)

Unity in diversity

 Unity in Diversity

What do I mean by the idea of a universal religion?  I do not mean any one universal philosophy, or any one universal mythology, or any one universal ritual, held alike by all; for I know that this word must go on working, wheel within wheel, this intricate mass of machinery, most complex, most wonderful. What can we do then? We can make it run smoothly, we can lessen the friction, we can grease the wheels as it were. How? By recognising the natural necessity of diversity. Just as we have recognised unity by our very nature, so we must also recognise diversity. We must learn that truth maybe  recognised in a hundred thousand ways, and that each of these ways is true as far as it goes. We must learn that the same thing can be viewed from a hundred different standpoints, and yet be the same thing.
